Guide to repairing startup errors - "Brisbane Computer Repairs"

Unfortunately, start up errors do occur somtimes and like their name implies, they happen when you turn on your system. The usual problems for start up errors include a file that cannot be found, a driver that will not load or there is some sort of virus or malware on your system. This guide is for a medium PC user who has some experiance with repairs

1. Insert the Windows XP CD into your CD-ROM drive, you will then be asked if you want to repair or install windows, choose repair by pressing the "R" key and then the "C" key.

2. The Recovery Console should now appear. From here, you can choose the option that allows you to install Windows, select the Administrator account and enter your password before hitting Enter.

3. As a new Window's message appears, select the SystemRootSystem32 folder. Type "listsvc" and then hit Enter.
On the list that appears, search for the name of the driver or service that appeared on your startup error message.

4. In order to fix the startup error, type in "disable" and the name of the service and then hit Enter.

5. Once you have completed these steps, you can remove the Windows CD from your CD-ROM, your computer will automatically restart and when it does, you should notice that you no longer have a startup error.

6. This kind of error is the most common and if you do not take it seriously and attempt to fix startup errors, they do have the potential to crash your system.

To fully protect your computer, use a proper malware or virus scanner on a regular basis.
